typography anatomy project
The Project
In this project we were assigned with the task of taking our names, and pointing out all of the different typography that could possibly be in them. We looked at different fonts and watched videos to help us understand what we were supposed to do, and once we had an idea on what different typography our names had in them, we headed over to adobe illustrator and got started. The project itself was pretty self explanatory, but one of our requirements was to have at least 10 different pieces of "typography anatomy" in our name, which was kind of cool for me personally, just because I didn't know that there were so many parts that make up something so simple, like a name. What I Learned
Throughout this whole mini unit, I learned a lot of new information. We talked about fonts and how there are serif and sans-serif fonts. Also how different fonts can portray how you want the message to be read and if it is a more serious tone, or a more fun tone. We discussed the different parts of a font, like I said before, and once everyone got to adobe illustrator there were many new things that I learned. I discovered things like all of the different font types and started to notice fonts that were more fancy and more casual, there were also all of the different serif and sans-serif fonts that i started to pay attention to. We also learned other little details like, how to make arrowheads on the ends of lines. Not to mention we got to review other skills that we had just previously learned, like how to make a line dotted, how to make different colors for the lines, and things like saving the document for the web.How It Went
I feel that this project went really good. I was able to apply what I learned to the whole thing, and I think that the final product turned out very well. Something that I might want to do better next time is probably work on my time management, maybe get the project done in a shorter amount of time. But other than that, the project and the experience went very well and I feel that if I do the next project like this one, that it will be a success.
